Latin Dance Lesson Blog

I’ve been dancing in jazz/hiphop etc since i was about 9 and now i am 21. i started latin last year, and i’m currently looking to do my silver medal pretty soon, but ive put my lessons on hold cos of uni studies. i’m going to recommence taking one private lesson a week in november, and i’ll have 4 months off uni to have time to practice dancing a lot. how many hours a week/day should i spend? i would like to become really good. is there still a chance in the future i could compete at a high level (not necessarily professional), considering i have done other forms of dance most of my life?

It depends on what you want out of it. If you’re only dancing towards medals, then you wouldn’t need to do more than 5 hours a week. If you were competing with the possibility of becoming a professional, you’d need to practice a lot more. Top dancers usually practice at least 20 hours a week, most do more than that, some do about 40 hours a week. I’d say at least 10 hours a week minimum, more if you can manage it.

Needs to be between the age of 18 – 30, reasonably fit, from Birmingham or close too and be free on a Monday (it cost £14 for a private lesson)

Dance is dance i love it all but latin dance is fun so is belly dancing and just grooving with your friends.

I have taken dance lessons since i was six

i love a guy that can dance but if he cant that doesnt bother me he just needs to have rhythem….then i can teach him to move all the right ways.

hi i like the look of really fast pace dances. i like the looks of belly dancing, salsa, tango and latin dances but i dont know which one to go for. im 14 so my parents would have to pay for the lessons but i feel scared of going and asking them. But how could i convince them and what dance should i go for. im 5ft7in and skinny if that makes any difference. its just im seroiusly dying for lesson and ive had it for roughly a year! help!

I like the Latin dances a lot. If your parents don’t want to pay for it you could always buy the dvds and learn at home. I have one and now I know how to do the Tango, Cha-Cha, Samba, Paso Doble and Jive. If you like the Latin dancing you should watch the movie "Dance with Me". It is awesome! It might influence which class you choose to take!!
